2018 Wedding Cake Trends
We recently hosted a Wedding Open Day at The Pavilion at Lane End, Buckinghamshire. The event was attended by many brides getting married in 2015 and we asked Tracey from Traceys Cakes to display wedding cakes that would best illustrate the main trends for 2018.
Tracey explained that her top three trends for 2018 were edible lace, sugar-paste flowers and big bold colours.
Sugar Paste Work
The edible flowers and lace are made from sugar-paste and are perfect to add delicate touches to any wedding cake. It is reminiscent of the luxurious cakes of the Edwardian period, but with a modern touch and fun, brightly coloured bases.
The main authority when it comes to colour Pantone UK recently released their top 2015 fashion colours. These include anything from toasted almond to aquamarine, custard, strawberry ice and grey. It is a very varied colour wheel which ranges from soft colours to very bright and bold colours, which makes it very exciting for anyone planning a wedding this year.
Brides and grooms can personalise anything from handmade signs to DIY favors and now also wedding cakes. There are cakes being painted with chalk paint and decorated with personal messages from well-wishers, cakes modelled after favourite pets or destinations. Some opt for cakes decorated with their initials, a favourite songs, hobbies, profession or pretty much anything that the couple choose.
